A series designed for a venue
A themed exhibition is a set of paintings made to belong together. Giulia Dal Bon starts from the theme you choose and from the room where the canvases will hang: the height of the walls, the light of the space, the path visitors will follow. She composes the series as a whole, with sizes that answer one another, a palette that links the canvases, and one or two large pieces that set the tone.
Before she paints, she shows you two sketches: the idea of the series and the place of each canvas. You tell her what you think, and she adjusts. The canvases are painted by hand in acrylic, varnished as a finish, and Giulia signs them if you wish.
Giulia has already worked this way. In 2025 she painted a series of six canvases for The Family Circle, at the Circolo Romeo Cerizza in Milan, a place open to the public and devoted to women: two women, two worlds, each canvas with its own energy and colours.
The themes of an exhibition
A city tells its story through its streets, its light, its rooftops, its harbour or its river: Giulia paints the places residents recognise and the ones visitors discover. An anniversary tells its story through its history: a house turning a hundred, a town festival, a festival’s anniversary edition.
A trade or a house tells its story through its gestures and its places: a wine estate and its vineyards, a workshop, a manufacture, a family of hotels. A season speaks through its colours, an idea through its faces: the series of six canvases painted for a place devoted to women is one example. Giulia also paints landscapes, portraits, the sea and plants, which run through all her work.
For a gallery, a city, a hotel, a festival
For a gallery, Giulia paints an original series for the exhibition, on the theme the gallery chooses or the one she suggests. The canvases are new, painted for those walls, and the terms of the exhibition and of the sale are agreed with the gallery before the first canvas.
For a city or a tourist office, the series tells the story of the area for a cultural season, a festival or an anniversary, and it can then move on to a town hall, a library or a city museum. Giulia has already worked for a municipality: she painted the mural for the town festival of Segrate, with the Fermata Giovani Artisti association.
For a hotel, the series dresses the lobby, the corridors and the rooms around a single thread, for example the hotel’s city or region, and guests discover the place through the canvases.
For a festival or a company, the series accompanies the event or tells the story of the trade: an edition, an anniversary, a launch. It is shown during the event, then stays on the walls of the headquarters or the venue.
The opening night
On opening night, Giulia can paint live in front of the guests: a last canvas of the series comes to life during the evening and joins the exhibition that same night. For an even stronger moment there is the piano and painting show: Orlando at the piano, with a neoclassical repertoire in the spirit of Ludovico Einaudi or Hania Rani, and Giulia painting to the rhythm of the music. Giulia Dal Bon, painter
Giulia Dal Bon is a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She shows her paintings in art galleries and paints portraits, landscapes and large canvases on commission, including one of 180 × 95 cm. She took part in BienNoLo and in the Psichedelic Garden exhibition by the Contemporanea:mente collective, and Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have written about her work. Can the paintings be sold during the exhibition?
The terms are agreed with you before the first canvas and written in the quote: the series can be bought by the venue that commissions it, or shown and then offered for sale, according to what you agree with Giulia Dal Bon. Does Giulia travel for the hanging and the opening?
Yes. Giulia Dal Bon travels across Europe, for the opening night and, if you wish, for the hanging of the canvases. Travel costs and organisation are agreed together in the quote. She speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish, which makes it easier to work with a gallery, a city or a hotel abroad.
Can a live painting be added to the exhibition opening?
Yes. On opening night, Giulia Dal Bon paints live in front of the guests, and the canvas of the evening joins the exhibition. She can also bring the piano and painting show, with Orlando at the piano and a neoclassical repertoire.
