In Palma cathedral, Miquel Barceló, born in Felanitx, covered the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament between 2001 and 2007 with three hundred square metres of polychrome ceramic, shaped and fired in Naples and shipped over by sea: loaves, fish and the island’s seabed. The chapel was inaugurated on 2 February 2007. In the Balearics, the artist’s wall is a contemporary story.
What Giulia brings. Giulia is a painter, trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in art galleries and also paints on walls. Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have written about her work, and her mural of over twenty metres dedicated to Gaber and Jannacci can be seen in Milan. The wall is her favourite canvas because it truly becomes part of a place, a unique work made to tell your story.
In the Balearic Islands, Giulia also paints live in front of an audience: a company evening, a conference, an opening or a wedding. The canvas starts blank and ends signed, ready to hang. From 950 € for a wedding, from 900 € for a company evening, from 400 € for a performance at a concert. For a wedding, the reception venues are gathered on the live wedding painting in Mallorca page.

Here painting works with limewashed walls, shaded patios and a light that held Miró for nearly thirty years.
Living rooms, bedrooms, entrances, verandas and ceilings in old-town houses and villas. Example: a 10 m² living room wall fully painted, around €2,500.
Hotels, restaurants, bars and shops, often in older buildings with high ceilings. Example: a 15 m² wall fully painted, around €3,750.
Near the sea salt is a real factor and the sun is strong: exteriors are painted in quartz paint, with anti-salt varnish on request. From €150 per m², plus scaffolding if needed.
A photo of the wall, its approximate dimensions and the idea you have in mind are enough to receive a quote.
Giulia Dal Bon’s price is per square metre: 150 € for a line drawing or a simple motif, 250 € for a fully painted subject, 350 € for trompe-l’oeil or a ceiling. A small mural in a bedroom costs less than a facade that needs preparation and scaffolding. The quote is free: see all prices.

She then comes and paints the mural at your place shaped for the Balearic Islands, by brush, and the place stays open while she works.
Yes. Palma cathedral and the 300 sqm of ceramic Miquel Barceló unveiled there on 2 February 2007, the studio Josep Lluís Sert designed for Miró, the Renaissance walls of Dalt Vila in Ibiza, the 1727 armoury that became a museum in 1969, the coves and pines of Ibiza and Formentera, the windmills and dry-stone terraces of Mallorca. Giulia Dal Bon paints with a brush, on site. The price follows the technique: 150 € per sqm as a line drawing, 250 € for a fully painted view.
With Giulia Dal Bon, the price per square metre includes the paint and materials, the first two sketches and the protective varnish as a finish. While she paints, you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. Added to the quote, when needed, are the scaffolding for a facade and travel costs, agreed together. The quote is free and arrives within 48 hours; a deposit of about 100 € for materials confirms the date, and the balance is settled at the end.
In old-town houses and villas, a botanical motif, a landscape or a perspective trompe-l’oeil work well on pale render. Everything is painted with a brush, in odourless acrylic.
The paint goes onto the plaster already in place. Dusting it down is usually enough. If the surface has cracks or rising damp, Giulia flags it before quoting.
Always. You get a sketch mounted on the photo of your wall, to scale, with the quote. You confirm whenever you are ready, and she adjusts the design with you.
The subjects that work here: floral and botanical work for bedrooms and living rooms, landscapes for living spaces and terraces, trompe l’oeil for facades and ceilings. Everything is drawn to measure: Giulia offers two free sketches from your idea, and you refine it together until the subject is yours. If you are still choosing the subject of your mural in the Balearic Islands, the guide What subject to choose for a mural reviews the options room by room.
Spray can and brush give two different results. The brush works in layers, which makes gradients, fine detail and trompe l’oeil possible: that is why a mural can be looked at like a painting. In the Balearic Islands, Giulia Dal Bon paints by hand, in odourless acrylic indoors and quartz paint outdoors. A painting made by hand shows, and it stands out all the more today.
A muralist, or a decorative painter; the word fresco painter exists too, for the old technique. In the Balearic Islands, that is the work of Giulia Dal Bon: trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, she exhibits her paintings in art galleries and paints commissioned murals with a brush. People also search for it as mural painting, wall mural or hand-painted wall. Send her a photo of your wall: free quote within 48 hours.
Yes, with surface preparation and quartz paint, made for outdoor walls. The sun is strong and near the sea the air is salty: an anti-salt varnish is added on request.
An interior wall can be painted freely. For a facade visible from the street, you usually need the owner’s or the building association’s approval, and a notice to the town hall if the building is in a protected area. Giulia explains the process before starting.
It depends on the surface, the level of detail and how easy the wall is to reach. Giulia gives the timing with the quote, within 48 hours, and gives plenty of notice if the schedule moves. The place keeps running while she works: the acrylic is odourless.
The murals Giulia Dal Bon paints last a lifetime indoors: the paint becomes part of the plaster and lives as long as the wall. Outdoors, quartz paint is made for facades, and an anti-salt or anti-pollution varnish extends it further. And if one day you want a change, it can be painted over like any wall paint.

At home, Giulia paints the living room, a bedroom, the entrance or the staircase. Made to measure, from 150 € per sqm.
A mural for your home
In a hotel or a boutique, she paints reception, the bedrooms and the shop window. From 150 to 350 € per sqm depending on the technique.
Hotel and boutique murals
The mural can be floral, vegetal, maritime, narrative, or more restrained. What matters most is the relationship between painting, surface, and the way the place is lived.
Village houses, sea-facing apartments, entryways, staircases, and rooms where color can make the wall feel warmer and more alive.
Restaurants, small hotels, boutiques, and places that want atmosphere while keeping the honesty of the material and the light.
Within this Balearic axis, Menorca and Formentera also belong, with the same continuity of homes, small hotels, patios, facades and limewashed walls where painting meets the light.
Menorca belongs here when the mural involves white houses, rural hotels, courtyards and harbour venues.
Formentera belongs to the same group for low houses, bedrooms, terraces and white walls facing the sea.
The method stays the same across this part of Balearic Islands: the mural begins from the real surface, the way the wall is seen, the rhythm of the place, and the way people move through it.

The mural of over 20 metres for Gaber and Jannacci, in Milan, in the press
Giulia Dal Bon, trained at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan.
In the Balearic Islands, for a private client, in a house, a villa, a second home or a flat, she paints on an interior wall : the living room, the children’s bedroom and the bedroom. She also paints the kitchen, the bathroom, the entrance, the hallway and the stairwell. A ceiling is painted like a wall, working overhead. Outdoors, she uses quartz paint on the exterior facade and the garden wall, with a protective varnish to finish. She also paints on a mobile panel, when the wall belongs to someone else.
In a restaurant, a pizzeria, a café or a bar in the Balearic Islands, the room stays open while she paints: the acrylic is odourless. In a boutique and a shop, the painted window is seen from the street, and the shutter stays painted after closing. In a hotel and a B&B, she paints the lobbies, the corridors and the rooms. In a hair salon, a spa and a gym, she paints the walls of the cabins and of the main room. In a medical practice, a waiting room and a nursery, she paints the waiting room and the corridor leading to it. In an office and a showroom, she paints the wall you see on the way in, and the one at the far end. A cellar is painted as well, vault included.
A wall can carry a landscape, a floral or botanical motif, lettering, a painted sign. A ceiling takes a sky. A perspective trompe-l’oeil opens a window or a corridor on a solid wall. Giulia also paints figures and animals, and reproduces a work on request.
People ask for different things and mean the same one: a mural, a wall mural, an artistic painting on a wall. Others say wall decoration, decorative painting, mural decoration. Others again a trompe-l’oeil, a hand-painted wall, a drawing on a wall, or a painting made directly on the wall. It is one craft, that of a mural artist, a muralist, a decorative painter, and Giulia does it with a brush in the Balearic Islands.
The Balearics run from Palma to Formentera, with limewashed houses, patios and harbours where the light has held painters: tall packed houses, trompe-l’oeil painted facades, seafront shops.
Giulia also travels to Palma de Mallorca and to Ibiza.
She also works in Valldemossa, Deià, Sóller, Pollença, Alcúdia, Artà, Santanyí, Felanitx, Andratx, Portals Nous, Santa Eulària des Riu, Sant Antoni de Portmany, Sant Josep, Es Cubells, Formentera, Mahón, Ciutadella, Fornells, Binibeca and Cala d’Or.
