Live wedding painting: your painting made during the celebration
On your wedding day, Giulia Dal Bon sets her easel at the edge of the celebration and paints. During the cocktail hour, guests pass by, watch, come back: the canvas advances in front of them, and the moment you have chosen takes shape as the hours go. By the end of the evening you leave with the painting, made and finished on site, where most artists deliver it weeks later. Giulia is a painter, trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, and speaks Italian, French and English. From 950 €, free quote within 48 hours.

What Giulia paints during your wedding
What does the painting show?
The moment you choose: the ceremony, the exit, the first dance, the cocktail hour with the guests, or the venue itself with the couple in the foreground. Giulia prepares the composition beforehand from your photographs and images of the venue, then paints on site. You know what you will get before the day itself.
Can we choose the moment shown?
Yes, and it is the first question Giulia asks you. Couples most often choose the ceremony or the first dance. Others prefer a wide view of the venue at sunset, with the guests. You decide together from the first sketch, free like the second, and revisions are included.
What size is the canvas?
Four sizes, and the price follows the size: 40×60 cm at 950 €, 60×80 cm at 1,200 €, 70×100 cm at 1,500 €, and 80×120 cm at 1,800 € for a full day. The 60×80 is the most frequent choice: large enough to be seen from across the room while she paints, easy enough to travel home by car that evening. And if you want another size, Giulia adapts: tell her what you have in mind, she replies within 48 hours.
Can Giulia sketch the guests?
Yes. Giulia is a portraitist as much as a muralist: she has painted dozens of portraits, on canvas and on paper. During the cocktail hour or the evening she sketches the guests, and each one leaves with their own portrait. Allow around three hours, from 500 €. The format combines with the wedding painting: the canvas during the cocktail hour, the portraits through the evening. Write to her with your programme, the quote goes out within 48 hours.
How the day unfolds
How long does the artist paint?
Three to five hours on site for a standard format, with arrival one hour ahead for set-up. For a large format, allow the full day. Giulia adapts to the programme: if the cocktail hour is short, she starts before the ceremony with the setting and the venue, then paints the figures afterwards.
At what moment of the day does she paint?
During the cocktail hour, at the great majority of weddings. It is the moment when guests circulate, the light is still good, and the canvas can advance in front of them. She often paints the setting and the architecture before the ceremony, so she is ready to place the figures as soon as the scene has happened.
Is the painting finished the same evening?
On a standard format, most often yes: the canvas is presented to the couple at the end of the evening. On a large format, Giulia finishes the final touches in the studio and the work is delivered afterwards. The final varnish needs a few days of drying in any case. The delivery date is written into the quote.
When do we leave with the painting?
The same evening. That is the difference with most artists on this market, who sketch on site, finish in the studio and deliver four to twelve weeks later. Giulia paints and finishes on site: the canvas is presented to the couple at the end of the evening and goes home with them, still fresh. Only very large formats call for studio time, and the date is then written into the quote.
What do we need to arrange on site?
A space of roughly two by two metres, away from the flow but visible to the guests, a power socket and light if she paints in the evening. Giulia brings her easel, canvases, acrylics and brushes, and protects the floor around her. Simply let your venue and your wedding planner know.
Do we get a video too?
Yes. While Giulia paints, a phone sits on a tripod and records the canvas filling, hour after hour. You receive the timelapse along with the painting: a few dozen seconds in which the blank of the start becomes your wedding. It is what guests rewatch most often afterwards, and it comes with the painting, included.
Should we tell the photographer?
It is more comfortable for everyone, yes. Giulia stands where she is least in the way, and the photographer knows where she will be. Many photographers also shoot the canvas as it advances: it is a series couples often look at as much as the rest.

How much does a live wedding painting cost?
From 950 € for a painting made during the wedding, three to five hours on site, work handed over. From 1,800 € for a large format or a full day. From 600 € for a portrait painted in the studio from your photographs, if you prefer a more measured budget or are already married. The canvas, stretcher and paints are included.
Does the price include the canvas and the paints?
Yes. The canvas, the stretcher, the acrylics, the brushes and the easel are included, and Giulia brings all her own equipment on the day. The first two sketches are free and revisions are included. Travel and logistics are agreed together and priced separately in the quote, depending on the place and the duration.
Is a deposit required?
A deposit holds the date, and the balance is settled at the end, together. That is the counterpart of a day blocked out: on a confirmed date, Giulia turns down other requests. The amount and the terms are written into the quote before you confirm, and you confirm when you are ready.
Can it be given as a gift to a couple?
Yes, and it is a gift often given by several people together. You book the date and the format, and the couple chooses the moment shown with Giulia. All it takes is a known date and a venue that has been told. Write to Giulia, the quote goes out within 48 hours.
