How much does a commissioned painting cost?

From 90 € on A4 paper, from 180 € on a 30×40 cm canvas, 240 € for 40×50 cm and 320 € for 50×70 cm. The price follows the size, and the size alone: one face or the whole family on the same canvas is the same rate. Only very large formats are quoted individually.

When do I pay?

Half once the sketch is approved, the balance at the end, when the painting pleases you. So the first euro leaves after you have seen the drawing of your own painting: the first two sketches are free and leave you entirely free. It is the reverse of the trade’s habit, where a deposit is paid before anything has been drawn.

Can I ask for changes while Giulia is painting?

Yes, and that is how she likes to work. She shows the painting in progress and you say what you think: a background colour, a framing, the expression of a face. Adjustments happen as the work goes along rather than at the end, when everything would be harder to redo. She adjusts the design with you, and the price stays the same, until the painting is right.

How does the painting arrive?

Carefully packed and shipped from the destination country. You receive photos of the finished painting before it is sent. Shipping costs appear in the quote; an urgent delivery costs more, and that is the only variable.

What is the difference between a commissioned painting and a print on canvas?

A print reproduces a photo on a surface; a commissioned painting is made by hand, layer upon layer, by an artist trained at the Brera Academy. The light is rebuilt, the colours are chosen for the room where the painting will hang, and the canvas carries the mark of the brush. Giulia prepares two free sketches before painting, and she adjusts the design with you: you see the mural before it exists.

Can I commission a painting from an AI-generated image?

Yes, and it happens more and more: many people arrive with an image made on ChatGPT or Midjourney. Giulia takes it as a starting point, an intention, then rethinks it at real dimensions, in real light and with real faces from your photos. The result is an original work, painted by hand, that you own with its rights. Send the image and your photos: free quote within 48 hours. The dedicated page on paintings from an AI image explains the whole process.

What Giulia paints to commission

What can I have painted?

A portrait from a photograph, one person or the whole family. A memorial portrait of someone who has died. An animal. A landscape: the family house, the bay you spend summers in, the street you grew up on. Send your photos and the idea you have in mind, even a vague one, and Giulia answers within 48 hours with a quote and a first proposal.

Who paints the picture?

Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in art galleries, and Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have written about her work. Every painting is made with a brush, in acrylic, on canvas or paper: a unique work, from the first sketch to the last glaze, signed if you wish.

How does a commission work, step by step?

Send Giulia Dal Bon a photo of what you would like painted, or describe it to her, and she brings your idea to life with you. She offers you a free quote within 48 hours, then two free sketches: you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. She paints, you follow the progress, and your painting is delivered to your home, carefully packed. A painting starts at 90 €.

Which photo should I send?

The sharpest you have, taken in daylight if possible. A phone is enough. For a portrait, the face clearly visible, at eye level. For a landscape, the hour and the season you love. Several photos are better than one: Giulia takes the pose from one, the colour from another, the expression from a third. An old or damaged photo can work perfectly well as a starting point.

Which painting should I choose?

For a beloved face, the portrait from a photo. For several people together, the family portrait. For someone who has died, the memorial portrait. For a dog, a cat, a horse, the pet portrait. For a place that matters, the commissioned landscape. And if it is a gift, the dedicated page explains the surprise and the gift voucher.
