The show: live piano and painting on stage

What is the show?

The pianist plays, Giulia paints. The canvas is blank at the start and the audience watches it fill during the music. She paints standing, in motion, and the painting follows what she hears rather than a programme written in advance. At the end, the canvas is turned to the room. The length is set to the programme, from one piece to a full evening.

How long does a performance last?

From one piece, about twenty minutes, to a full evening. At a gala or a festival, the short format works well as an opening or a close. On a theatre stage, the performance is built with the venue and the programme. The agreed length is written into the quote, sent within 48 hours.

What happens to the painting?

It is revealed to the room at the end of the performance. Depending on what is agreed, it stays with the organiser, goes on sale that same evening, or is given. The painting made during the show often finds a buyer in the room the same night. Tell Giulia what you prefer and it is written into the quote.

What is needed on stage?

A space of roughly two by two metres, a power socket, light on the canvas and a tuned piano. Giulia brings her easel, canvas, acrylics and brushes, and protects the stage around her. A rehearsal on site before the performance helps when the venue allows it.

What venues does this format suit?

Theatres, concert halls, festivals, galas, museums, private views, private evenings and brand events. It asks for a seated or gathered audience, a stage or a clear space, and light on the canvas. The format fits a three-hundred-seat hall as well as a private salon.

To set the scale: a painting performance alone, twenty to sixty minutes, starts at 400 €, and several hours on site with the work handed over start at 950 €.
