Practical questions before commissioning a mural

The questions that come up most often.

Can I see the design before saying yes ?

Yes. Before any agreement, Giulia shows you the project as an image on your own wall, with a detailed price. Several sketches are proposed to you before the project is confirmed.

What kind of mural works well in Naples ?

Naples already has a very strong visual culture of painted walls, especially in the Quartieri Spagnoli. Giulia's work is different: not street art, but custom pictorial decoration, painted by hand in acrylic, for homes, restaurants and shops, with no wallpaper and no printing.

Does it damage the wall ?

No damage. Acrylic bonds to a painted or plastered wall, with no stripping and no heavy undercoat. And if you change your mind in ten years, a roller of paint covers it.

Naples between the old centre and the seafront

Here, a mural works when it dialogues with the density of the old centre or the light of the sea at Chiaia.

Homes and apartments

Living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, entrances, and ceilings in historic palazzi. Example: a living room wall of 8 sqm in a detailed design, around 2 000 €.

Restaurants and shops

Restaurants, pizzerias, and shops in the historic centre or along the seafront. In a market where competitors look alike, a mural is one of the few things that cannot be copied. Example: a restaurant wall of 12 sqm in a detailed design, around 3 000 €.

Facades and exterior walls

Sea air is a factor to consider for areas near the water, like Chiaia and the Lungomare Caracciolo. For a facade visible from the street, the owner's or the building association's approval is usually enough, plus a notice to the town hall in a protected zone. From 150 € per sqm, plus scaffolding if needed.

A mural for this place

Naples is a city where painted walls are already part of the urban landscape, especially in the Quartieri Spagnoli. Giulia's work is different: not street art, but custom mural decoration, designed for the inside of a home, a restaurant, or a shop. Requests come from apartments in the historic centre, restaurants, and shops in Chiaia and near the seafront looking for a distinctive element. Giulia travels easily to paint: she comes on site to see the wall, or works first from photos and measurements.

Frequently asked questions about murals in Naples

How much does a mural cost in Naples ?

The price is per square metre: 150 € for a simple motif, 250 € for a detailed design, 350 € for trompe-l’oeil or a ceiling. A small mural in a bedroom costs less than a facade that needs preparation and scaffolding. The quote is free.

How long does it take ?

The time depends on the project: it is discussed together based on the wall and the subject. As a general guide, a simple motif takes less time than a very detailed design or a large surface.

Does a mural last outdoors in Naples ?

Yes, with surface preparation and paints made for outdoor use. Sea air is a factor to consider for areas near the water, like Chiaia and the Lungomare Caracciolo: Giulia assesses the wall before quoting.

Is permission needed to paint a facade ?

For an interior wall, no. For a facade visible from the street, you usually need the owner's or the building association's approval, and a notice to the town hall if the building is in a protected area, a common situation in the historic centre. Giulia explains the process before starting.

Can a mural be changed or removed later ?

Yes. A mural painted in acrylic can be covered like any wall paint. It can also be reworked or extended later.
