How it works

When you contact me about packaging, here is what happens next.

1

Your idea

A logo, a label, a poster: tell me what you have in mind, and we bring your idea to life together!

2

The quote

I send you a free quote within 48 hours.

3

Two sketches

Two free sketches: you tell me what you think, and I adjust.

4

The file

I paint the original by hand, lay it out, and you receive the print-ready file.

The packaging is the first gesture

Before tasting, reading or wearing, you open. Hand-painted packaging transforms that moment: the box is kept, the sleeve becomes storage, the card ends up on a fridge or inside a book. It is the one object of the brand the customer truly handles.

Giulia paints the motif running around the box, the illustration on the lid, the drawing hidden inside the cover, the thank-you card, the tissue paper, the ribbon. She also draws the name and the wording, in the same hand as the image, so everything holds together.

From the die-line to the print file

Send the flat die-line of your packaging, or its dimensions and material. Giulia replies within 48 hours with a free quote and prepares two included sketches, laid on the real die-line: you see straight away what falls on the flap, on the edge and on the top.

She paints the original, shows the progress, corrects with you, then delivers the high-definition file with fold marks and bleed, ready to go to the box maker. A complete range, box, sleeve, pouch, card, bag, is quoted separately.

Who has their packaging painted

Delicatessens and chocolate houses, coffee roasters, teas and infusions, soap makers and perfumers, natural cosmetics, candles; wine estates for their festive box, breweries for their tasting pack, distilleries for their sleeve; clothing and jewellery brands for their box and tissue paper; hotels and restaurants for their gift box; booksellers and makers for their Christmas packaging.

Your questions, before commissioning

How does commissioning hand-painted packaging work?

Tell Giulia Dal Bon what you have in mind for your packaging, and she brings your idea to life with you. She sends you a free quote within 48 hours, then two free sketches: you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. She paints the original by hand, lays it out in Photoshop and Illustrator, and you receive the print-ready file. A label starts at 400 €, a logo at 500 €, a poster at 700 €.

Can a Christmas box or a gift box be painted?

Yes, and it is the autumn piece. The box is painted like a small mural: a motif that goes all the way round, a drawing on the lid, a card inside. Write to Giulia as early as summer if you print for December, the schedule is set in the quote.

Do I need to provide the flat die-line?

It is the simplest way, and your box maker always has it. Otherwise, give the dimensions, the thickness of the board and the type of fold: Giulia rebuilds the die-line and paints on it. Fold marks and bleed are delivered with the file.

Can the packaging match the label and the logo?

That is the very aim. The same hand on the logo, the label and the box makes an identity recognisable at a glance. All three are drawn together, or one after another from the first. A complete identity is quoted separately.

How much does hand-painted graphic design cost?

From 500 € for a logo or lettering, 400 € for a label, an album cover or a book cover, 700 € for a poster. A complete identity, logo, label, packaging, starts at 1,500 €, and a whole range is quoted separately. The price includes painting the original, two included sketches, corrections during the work and the high-definition file ready for the printer. Giulia Dal Bon replies within 48 hours with a free quote.

What do I receive at the end?

A high-definition file in the exact dimensions of your medium, ready to go to the printer, with the variations you need. The painted original stays yours if you wish: it is a work on paper or on canvas, and it can be framed. It looks right in the shop, the workshop or the office, next to the product it dresses.

Does Giulia also draw the name and the lettering?

Yes, and it is a part of the work she loves. She draws the name letter by letter, by hand, and composes the whole page: the name, the legal wording, the vintage, the title. She studied graphic design at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, alongside painting. The lettering can be painted with a brush, drawn in ink or cleaned up afterwards for print.

Who owns the design?

You do. The visual is painted for your house and for it alone: it is assigned to you for the intended use, and the quote says which. Giulia keeps the right to show the work in her portfolio, like any author. If you want full exclusivity or a wider use, that is written into the quote from the start.

Can we start from a photo or an AI-generated image?

Yes, and many people arrive with one today. An image found on Pinterest or generated by AI gives a direction: a colour, a framing, an atmosphere. Giulia looks at it, keeps the intention and paints an original by hand, with her own shapes, in the true dimensions of your medium. You get a work painted for you alone, and it belongs to you.

Can Giulia prepare the file for print?

Yes, that is the second half of the job. She paints the original by hand, then lays it out in Photoshop and Illustrator, two programs she knows well enough to have given private lessons on them. You receive a clean file, in the exact dimensions, with bleed, the requested colour mode and vector paths where needed. Your printer can talk to her directly.

When will I receive the file?

The schedule is set with you at the quote stage, around your print, release or event date. Giulia sends two sketches, you choose, she paints, shows the progress and you adjust with her. Write to her with your date, she tells you straight away whether it can be met.
