Two free sketches: you tell me what you think, and I adjust.
I paint, you follow the progress, and your portrait arrives at your door, carefully packed.
Giulia Dal Bon paints portraits with a brush, in acrylic, on canvas or on paper, from your photos. Trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, she exhibits her paintings in art galleries, and Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have written about her work. Each portrait is a unique work, from the first sketch to the final glaze, and she signs it if you wish, discreetly, in a corner.
One person, a couple, a beloved face, a family of six or a group of friends: the composition adapts, and the price is set by the size of the canvas, one face or a whole family at the same price. Giulia composes from several photos when people were photographed separately, and shows you the whole on a sketch before painting. Plain background or setting, bright colours or a soft palette, a tight crop on the face or a full figure: describe the idea, even a vague one, and the first two sketches turn it into an image.
The portrait from a photo, the family portrait, the portrait of your dog, cat or horse, and the landscape of a place that matters each have their own page. The painting also slips into a gift box, with its card.
You send one or more photos of the person by WhatsApp or email, with the size you have in mind. A sharp photo with a well-lit face is enough, even taken on a phone: daylight gives the true colours of skin and eyes, and several photos help Giulia catch the natural expression. For a memorial portrait, an old photo, damaged or in black and white, serves as a starting point, and the painting gives it back its colours.
Giulia replies within 48 hours with a free quote, then offers you two complimentary sketches: you see the composition before confirming. She then paints while showing the work in progress, so you adjust together along the way, and she adjusts the design with you. A 50 % deposit after the sketch is approved, the balance at the end.
The sketch arrives quickly. Then allow about a week between the approved sketch and the shipping of the painting, plus a few days in transit: the exact lead time is written in the quote. For a gift with a fixed date, a birthday or Christmas, say so in your first message: Giulia organises the work so the painting arrives in time. It then leaves carefully packed, anywhere in Europe, and you receive photos of the finished painting before it ships.
The price depends on support and size: from 90 € on paper in A4, from 180 € on canvas in 30×40 cm, 240 € in 40×50 cm and 320 € in 50×70 cm. The price follows the size, and the size alone: one face or a whole family on a 40×50 cm costs the same. Only very large formats are quoted individually, within 48 hours. The first two sketches are complimentary, and she adjusts the design with you: the price announced is the final price.
The painting, its canvas or paper, and all the work around it: the first two sketches, the corrections while she paints, and the final varnish. Giulia shows you the progress and waits for your agreement at every step. Shipping comes on top, at cost, from the destination country. A 50% deposit once the sketch is approved, balance at the end.

Yes, throughout Europe. The painting leaves carefully packed, canvas protected, and shipping costs are set out in the quote by destination. You receive photos of the finished painting before it is sent.

Yes. Giulia paints to commission by connecting with what the person wants and feels: plain background or a setting, vivid colours or a soft palette, a close crop on the face or the full figure. You describe the idea, however vague, and the first two sketches put it into images. It is your portrait: it is defined together, and it looks like you.
The portrait from a photo paints one person, a couple, a beloved face. The family portrait gathers several people on one canvas. The pet portrait paints your dog, cat or horse. The custom landscape paints a place that matters: a house, a holiday view. And any painting slips happily into gift wrapping, card included.
