Getting married on the Amalfi Coast

Why do so many couples marry on the Amalfi Coast?
The Amalfi Coast hosted nearly 9,000 weddings in 2023. Ravello is its balcony: Villa Cimbrone with its Terrace of Infinity, Villa Rufolo with its gardens hanging over the sea. Giulia Dal Bon paints live wedding paintings there, from 950 € for the painting made on site, work handed over. She speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish, which matters when guests come from several countries. Free quote within 48 hours.
Why does a painter love the Amalfi Coast?
Because the decoration here is fired in a kiln. In Vietri sul Mare ceramics have been painted for nearly seven hundred years, and domes of yellow, green and blue majolica punctuate the whole coast from Positano to Amalfi. In Amalfi itself, the Chiostro del Paradiso, built between 1266 and 1268 by Archbishop Filippo Augustariccio for the noble families of the Republic, combines interlaced arches, mosaics and frescoes. Giulia paints a wedding here with those blues and yellows in mind, and the sea below.
What does the painting show?
The moment you choose: the ceremony, the exit, the first dance, the cocktail hour with the guests, or the venue itself with the couple in the foreground. Giulia prepares the composition beforehand from your photographs and images of the venue, then paints on site on the Amalfi Coast. You know what you will get before the day itself.
Does Giulia know the area?
She comes to the Amalfi Coast and travels across seventeen European countries. She looks at the venue before painting: the light, the colours, the architecture, and what the view gives at cocktail hour. Send her the name of your venue and she will tell you what she would make of it.
Giulia also paints commissioned murals in the area: see murals on the Amalfi Coast.
The wedding venues on the Amalfi Coast
Giulia travels to the villas and reception venues of the area: Villa Cimbrone, Villa Rufolo, Belmond Hotel Caruso, Palazzo Avino, Villa TreVille, Villa Eva.
From the terrace of Villa Cimbrone, on the canvas you can see the coast dropping into the sea behind the couple, and the line of stone busts along the Belvedere. At Palazzo Avino, the majolica and the lemon trees give the painting its colours. At Villa Rufolo, the hanging gardens and the Moorish arches.
She also works in Ravello, Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Atrani, Scala, Minori, Maiori, Cetara, Vietri sul Mare, Sorrento, Massa Lubrense, Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi, Sant’Agnello, Piano di Sorrento, Meta, Vico Equense, Nerano, Salerno, Agerola.
On the Amalfi Coast, the piano and painting show at your wedding
On the Amalfi Coast, live wedding painting can become a show: Orlando at the piano, Giulia with her brush, and a canvas that takes shape with the music, right up to the last note. The repertoire is neoclassical, in the line of Ludovico Einaudi or Hania Rani, and your guests take the time to watch, admire and photograph the canvas as it grows. The signed painting is yours that same night. The piano and painting show is prepared with you and your wedding venue, on request.
Live painting on the Amalfi Coast, for another occasion
An evening on the Amalfi Coast is rarely put together twice the same way. Giulia starts from what you describe, suggests a format and tunes it to the room and the moment. A hotel looking for something else for its gala, a festival that wants a second stage, a company hosting its clients: you set the frame, she brings the painting.
A company evening on the Amalfi Coast The painting of the evening takes shape in front of your clients and leaves with the company. Invoice in its name, from 900 €.
A concert or a festival on the Amalfi Coast On stage or beside it, she paints to the rhythm of the set and shows the canvas on the last note. From 400 €.
A private party, a birthday, an opening Through the party she paints and sketches the guests in watercolour, each with their own. From 400 €.

On the day, she paints in front of your guests, on the Amalfi Coast, and the signed painting is yours that same day. Live painting for a wedding starts at 950 €.
Who is the painter who paints weddings live on the Amalfi Coast?
Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in galleries, paints murals in seventeen countries, and paints live on stage and at celebrations: at the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, and at the Festival Gaber in Camaiore on 6 July 2017, alongside the guitarist Gianni Martini. She speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish, and comes to the Amalfi Coast as she does all over Europe, to grand estates and small villages alike.
What do you take home at the end of the evening?
The canvas itself, painted and finished on site, signed, in the size chosen in the quote: 40×60, 60×80, 70×100 or 80×120 cm. It goes home with you that same evening, ready to hang. The price includes the canvas and the paints, from 950 € for a wedding. For a very large format, the finishing is completed in the studio and the painting is shipped to you.
How much does a live wedding painting cost on the Amalfi Coast?
Giulia Dal Bon paints from 950 € a canvas during the wedding, made on site, work handed over. From 1,800 € for a large format or a full day. A portrait painted in the studio from your photographs is ordered from the portrait from a photo page, from 90 €. The canvas, the stretcher, the acrylics and the easel are included. Free quote within 48 hours.
Is travel charged separately?
Travel and logistics are agreed together and priced in the quote, depending on the place and the duration. Giulia comes to the Amalfi Coast and works across seventeen European countries. Give her the date, the venue and the kind of painting you have in mind: the reply arrives within 48 hours.
How far ahead should we book?
Several months. June, July and September are the three peak wedding months and their Saturdays go first. At the most sought-after venues on the Amalfi Coast, couples often book a year ahead. If your date is close, ask anyway: a slot sometimes opens.
Does Giulia work in the great villas and estates?
Yes, and she adapts to the house rules of each venue: she stands where she is least in the way, protects the floor around her and leaves with her equipment the same evening. Simply let your venue and your wedding planner know. She also works with agencies and provides a detailed quote that drops straight into a budget.
What is the best season on the Amalfi Coast?
The season runs from April to October; at the most sought-after venues of Ravello and Positano, summer dates are booked up to two years ahead. Giulia is available all year round, winter dates included. Giulia paints in acrylic, which dries fast and handles open air, so an outdoor wedding paints as well as one indoors. Allow for light if she paints in the evening and shelter in case of rain. The dates still open are in the quote, sent within 48 hours.
What do we need to arrange on site?
A space of roughly two by two metres, away from the flow but visible to the guests, a power socket and light if she paints in the evening. Giulia brings her easel, canvases, acrylics and brushes. That is all the venue needs to know.
Do you work elsewhere in Europe?
Yes. Giulia works in seventeen European countries: Italy, France, Monaco, Switzerland, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Croatia and the United Kingdom. She speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish fluently. Travel and logistics are agreed together and priced in the quote, sent within 48 hours.
Can live painting be arranged for a hotel evening on the Amalfi Coast?
Yes. Giulia Dal Bon paints live on the Amalfi Coast for hotel evenings, galas, openings and company parties, just as much as for weddings. She sets up her easel in the room, paints as the evening unfolds, and the signed canvas stays with the venue. The painting of a company evening starts at 900 €, a stage performance at 400 €. The piano and painting show, with Orlando at the piano, is priced on request. Tell her the date, the venue and the occasion: the reply arrives within 48 hours.
