Canvas or paper: what difference day to day?

Canvas hangs as it is, edges painted, straight onto the wall, and its texture takes the light well: it is the support for paintings that stay in place for years. Paper asks for a frame, which lets you change it over time, and gives a softer feel, close to drawing. Both age well: acrylic is a stable paint with lasting colours.

Which photos should I send?

The sharpest you have, taken in daylight if possible. For a portrait: the face clearly visible, at eye level. For a pet: at their level, gaze towards the lens. For a landscape: the hour and season you love. Several photos beat one: Giulia takes the pose here, the colour there, the expression elsewhere. Even one old, damaged photo can be enough.

What are the real lead times?

The sketch arrives quickly. Then allow about a week between the approved sketch and the shipping of the painting, plus a few days in transit: the exact lead time is written in the quote. For a hard deadline, say so in your first message: Giulia confirms feasibility within 48 hours and warns well in advance if the calendar shifts.

How does delivery work?

The painting leaves carefully packed, protected for transport, throughout Europe; costs are set out in the quote by destination. You receive photos of the finished painting before it ships.

Prices, size by size

What is the price of a hand-painted portrait?

With Giulia Dal Bon: from 90 € on paper in A4, from 180 € on canvas in 30×40 cm, 240 € in 40×50 cm and 320 € in 50×70 cm. The rate follows the size, and it includes the first two sketches and the corrections while she paints. Only very large formats are quoted individually, within 48 hours.

What makes the price vary?

Two things only: the size and the support. The rate stays the same with five faces or with one, where almost everywhere else each extra person drives the bill up: a family of five on a 50×70 cm costs the price of the 50×70 cm. The quote, free and sent within 48 hours, sets out the exact price before any commitment. The first two sketches and the she adjusts the design with you in every case: the price announced is the final price.

Are there extra costs?

The quote writes everything down: the painting, and the shipping by destination. Sketches are free, adjusted with you, and so is the signature, if you want one. Payment is simple: the balance at the end, once the painting delights you. For commissions with a fixed date, the schedule is set out in the quote itself.

How can I be sure of the result before paying?

Giulia’s method protects the commission from end to end: two complimentary sketches first, to approve the composition; the work shown during painting, to adjust together as it goes; touch-ups included at the end, until the painting is right; and the balance at the end. She is precise from the start about what she will paint: what the sketch shows is what the brush paints.
