I come and paint at your place in Lugano, by brush, and the place stays open while I work.
Lugano is the main city of Ticino, Italian-speaking Switzerland. Castagnola, on the eastern shore of the lake, is characterised by prestigious villas and draws Swiss and northern European clients; Paradiso works as a second city centre. In Lugano, Giulia paints the walls of villas, residences and professional spaces.
What Giulia brings to Lugano. Giulia is a painter, trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in art galleries and also paints on walls. She paints with a brush, in odourless acrylic indoors and quartz paint outdoors, and Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have covered her work. The wall is her favourite canvas because it truly becomes part of a place, a unique work made to tell your story.
For a company evening, Giulia also paints live in front of your guests: corporate live painting in Lugano, from 900 €.

In the church of Santa Maria degli Angeli, at the end of Via Nassa, Bernardino Luini painted between 1529 and 1532 the Passion and Crucifixion of Christ on the great screen separating the nave from the chancel: more than 150 figures, horses, crowds in motion. It is the most important Renaissance fresco in Switzerland, a few steps from the LAC and the lakeshore.
Lugano therefore keeps, on a single wall, the proof of what a wall painting can do to a room. Giulia Dal Bon paints there with a brush, in flats, lakeside villas, offices, hotels and restaurants, using odourless acrylic colours indoors and quartz paint outdoors. From 200 CHF per sqm, free quote within 48 hours.
In Lugano, Giulia also paints live in front of an audience: a wedding in a lakeside villa, a reception or a birthday. The canvas starts blank and ends signed, ready to hang. From 950 € for a wedding, from 400 € for a performance. See live painting →
A photo of the wall, its approximate dimensions and the idea you have in mind are enough to receive a quote.
The rate is per square metre: 200 CHF for a line drawing or a simple motif, 330 CHF for a fully painted subject, 460 CHF for a trompe l’oeil or ceiling. The quote is free: see all prices.
Write to Giulia Dal Bon on WhatsApp or by email, even if the idea is still vague: she replies within 48 hours. Send her a photo of the wall to be painted, she draws a sketch straight onto your photo, you tell her what you think, and the first two sketches are free. Once the sketch is approved, she sends you the quote, from 200 CHF per sqm in Lugano, and sets the date with you. She then comes and paints the mural at your place in Lugano, by brush, and the place stays open while she works.
The square-metre price Giulia Dal Bon quotes includes the paint and materials, the first two sketches and the protective varnish as a finish. While she paints, you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. Added to the quote, when needed, are the scaffolding for a facade and travel costs, agreed together. The quote is free and arrives within 48 hours; a deposit of about 100 € for materials confirms the date, and the balance is settled at the end.
Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She paints murals by brush in homes, bedrooms, bathrooms, on terraces, pool walls and facades, and travels in Lugano as she does across Europe. Send her a photo of the wall, its approximate dimensions and your idea, however loose: she replies within 48 hours with a quote and a first proposal. The first two sketches are free.
Always. You receive a sketch set on a photo of your own wall, to scale, together with the quote. The first two sketches are free: Giulia shows the work in progress, you give your opinion, and she adjusts. You confirm when you are ready.
The paint goes onto the plaster already in place. In most cases a dusting down is all that is needed before starting. If the surface has cracks or rising damp, Giulia points it out before quoting and proposes the preparation required. Indoors she uses an odourless acrylic: a child’s bedroom in use or a restaurant that stays open can both be painted. An acrylic mural can later be painted over like any wall paint, if you change your mind in ten years.
All year round. Indoors the odourless acrylic lets the room stay in use while she works, in January as in July. Outdoors she needs a dry wall and a mild temperature. Giulia sets the date with you when she quotes, within 48 hours, and gives plenty of notice if the schedule moves.
Yes. A painted view lives first of all on its lines. The lake between San Salvatore and Monte Brè, the palms along the shore, the arcades of the old town and the villas on the slopes. Giulia Dal Bon works with a brush, on the wall itself. A line-drawn view is 200 CHF per sqm, the same view fully painted from 330 CHF. Free quote within 48 hours.
In Lugano, lakeside villas lend themselves to Mediterranean botanical motifs, lake landscapes or a trompe l’oeil that plays with the light off the water. Everything is painted with a brush, in odourless acrylic.
A graffiti artist works with spray cans, and the line is fast and graphic. Giulia Dal Bon paints with a brush: the layers go on one after another, which allows gradients, fine detail and trompe l’oeil. A mural in Lugano becomes a painting made directly on the wall, by hand. While she works, people take the time to watch and take photos.
A mural artist, a muralist, a wall artist or a decorative painter, and the art itself is called mural painting or wall art. Giulia Dal Bon comes from painting: trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, she exhibits her paintings in art galleries and paints commissioned murals with a brush. To have one painted, send her a photo of your wall: free quote within 48 hours.
Yes, with surface preparation and paints made for outdoor use. The climate is mild thanks to the lake, and Giulia paints outdoors on a dry wall, in mild weather. Choosing the paint and the surface for an outdoor wall in Lugano is explained in the guide Which paint, which wall, how long it lasts.
An interior wall can be painted freely. For a facade visible from the street, you generally need the owner’s or building association’s agreement, and a notice to the municipality if the building sits in a protected zone: many buildings in the historic centre are protected. Giulia explains the process before starting.
It depends on the surface, the level of detail and how easy the wall is to reach. Giulia gives the timing with the quote, within 48 hours, and gives plenty of notice if the schedule moves. The place keeps running while she works: the acrylic is odourless.
Painted in acrylic by Giulia Dal Bon, a mural lasts a lifetime indoors: the paint becomes part of the plaster and lives as long as the wall. Outdoors, quartz paint is made for facades, and an anti-salt or anti-pollution varnish extends it further. And if one day you want a change, it can be painted over like any wall paint.
The other places Giulia paints, her portfolio and the towns nearby.

A bedroom, a hallway, a staircase: the walls you look at every day.
A mural for your home
A painted wall gives the room its character, and the place stays open while she works.
A mural for your restaurant
Giulia also works in these other European cities.
Giulia also travels to Paradiso, Massagno, Melide, Morcote, Bissone, Gandria, Agno, Caslano, Mendrisio and Collina d’Oro.

In Lugano, whether it is an apartment, Giulia paints on an interior wall : the living room, the bedroom and the kitchen. She also paints the bathroom, the entrance and the hallway. The ceiling is painted too: that is the €350 per sqm band, with trompe-l’oeil. Outside, on the exterior facade, she works in quartz paint. A mobile panel is painted separately, and moves with you.
For a boutique in Lugano, she paints the window, the shutter and the back wall. In a hotel, the painted wall gives each room its own subject.
In Lugano Centro, Paradiso and Castagnola, you send her a photo of the wall and she draws the sketch straight onto it, then you shape the idea together.
A wall can carry a landscape, a floral or botanical motif, lettering, a painted sign. A ceiling takes a sky. A perspective trompe-l’oeil opens a window or a corridor on a solid wall. Giulia also paints figures and animals, and reproduces a work on request.
Possible subjects in Lugano: the arcades of the old town and the villas on the slopes, the lake between San Salvatore and Monte Brè, the palms along the shore. A trompe-l’oeil window, a botanical motif and a painted sky work just as well.
Very different words lead to the same search: mural, wall mural, artistic painting on a wall, wall decoration, mural decoration, decorative painting. Trompe-l’oeil is one form of it, a hand-painted wall and a drawing on a wall are others, and some look for a painting made directly on the wall. Behind those words, one craft in Lugano: mural artist, muralist, wall artist, decorative painter.
Castagnola, on the eastern shore of the lake, is Lugano’s district of prestigious villas, while Paradiso works as a second city centre.
Giulia also travels throughout Ticino.
