A private view in Milan

Milan’s private views gather in a few districts. In Brera, the palace of the Academy, where Giulia studied, also houses the Pinacoteca, and galleries, shops and courtyards share the streets around it. In Lambrate, galleries follow one another along via Ventura, via Massimiano and via Conte Rosso, in former industrial spaces. During a private view, Giulia Dal Bon sets up her easel in a corner of the room, away from the walls, and paints while visitors discover the exhibition. The subject can answer the works on the walls, the venue itself or the music of the evening, and the gallery chooses it with her. Giulia is a painter first, and she shows her paintings in art galleries: the evening belongs to the works on show, which keep all their light.

Milan through the year

Every year, Milan lives to the rhythm of its big weeks. In February and September, Fashion Week brings the brands into showrooms and palazzi, and the Ambrosian Carnival, later than anywhere else in Italy, stretches February. In April, Milano Art Week revolves around miart, the art fair held at Allianz MiCo, in CityLife, then comes Design Week: the Salone del Mobile takes place in Rho, and the Fuorisalone spreads through the districts, from Brera to Tortona, from Isola to Lambrate, with the 5VIE around the Duomo as well, where showrooms and temporary venues open to the public.

In May, Piano City Milano brings more than four hundred concerts to the whole city, from private homes to parks, from museums to boats on the Navigli. In autumn the calendar starts again: the Italian Grand Prix at Monza in September, Milano Wine Week in October, then in November BookCity Milano, Milano Music Week and EICMA, the motorcycle show at Rho. On 7 December, the Prima della Scala opens the opera season on the feast of Saint Ambrose, the patron saint of Milan, with the Oh bej! Oh bej! fair around the Castello Sforzesco. Around those dates, galleries, brands and houses receive their guests in the evening, and a live painting gives those evenings a moment the guests take the time to watch, and a canvas that stays with the brand or the host. Giulia speaks Italian, French, English and Spanish: guests who have come a long way talk to her in their own language.

A private party in Milan

During the party, Giulia talks with a guest in front of her portrait.

For a birthday, a dinner or a family celebration, Giulia Dal Bon paints live in the place you have chosen: the apartment of a palazzo in the centre, a casa di ringhiera on the Navigli, those buildings whose apartments open onto a shared balcony walkway, a Brianza villa, a garden or a terrace. She paints what makes your evening: the courtyard, the laid table, the view over the rooftops, or the guests themselves, in watercolour, each one leaving with their portrait. By the end of the party the painting is finished and signed, and it stays with you. The page about live painting for a private party sets out every format.

A brand evening, a showroom, a shop in Milan

For the launch of a collection during fashion week, the opening of a shop or an evening in a showroom in Tortona or Brera, Giulia paints in front of your guests a canvas that tells the story of the brand: the flagship product, the material, the logo slipped into the composition, the colours of the house. She studied graphic design at the Brera Academy and draws lettering by hand. The subject is prepared before the day from your references, and you see it in a sketch. The canvas then stays with the brand, and the invoice is made out to the company. For an opening or the private view of a new venue, the page on live painting for a grand opening or a private view explains everything; for a seminar or a convention, the one on corporate live painting in Milan.

A concert, a stage in Milan

The piano and painting show: on a theatre stage plunged in darkness, Giulia Dal Bon paints in the light, Orlando at the keyboard.
Orlando at the keyboard, Giulia in the light: the piano and painting show.

Giulia has already painted live in Milan: at the Fabbrica del Vapore, for Play Green, alongside the illustrator Francesco Barcella, and as part of Piano City Milano, on 24 May 2025, at the Circolo Culturale Romeo Cerizza, with Orlando at the piano. At a concert, the painting follows the music, song after song, and the canvas is uncovered at the last note. For an evening that needs a high point, there is the piano and painting show: Orlando & Giulia, Orlando at the piano, in a neoclassical repertoire in the line of Ludovico Einaudi or Hania Rani, and Giulia painting to the rhythm of the music. Giulia can also paint the canvas upside down and turn it over at the end, if you are looking for a theatrical effect. For a concert or a festival, the dedicated page sets out the programme.

Milan and around

Giulia also paints for a wedding in Milan and the Brianza, for a company evening in Milan, and on the walls of the city: the mural in Milan. Around Milan, she travels to Monza, to Bergamo and to Lake Como.

In practice, in Milan

Giulia was born in Segrate and has lived much of her life in Milan: she knows the courtyards, the rooms and the districts where she paints. The length is decided with you, from about twenty minutes to a whole evening. She paints in odourless acrylic, on an easel that finds its place in a corner of a gallery, a showroom or a living room, with a little light if the evening is after dark. She brings the canvas, the colours and the easel, and protects the floor around her. She performs live paintings in Milan, in Lombardy and all over Europe: travel and logistics are agreed together in the quote.

Over several dates. If the format suits you, Giulia comes back: a series of private views, a whole season or a residency of a few days. The quote is then made for the whole, and you set the dates together.

Your questions, before booking

What does a live painting cost in Milan?

In Milan, a live painting starts at 400 €: that is the live performance, at a private view, a private party or a concert, for as long as you like. Watercolour portraits of the guests start at 500 €. For a brand evening or a shop, the canvas of the evening starts at 900 €, with an invoice in the company’s name. Giulia Dal Bon sends a free quote within 48 hours, and travel is agreed together.

Can Giulia paint live at a private view in a gallery in Brera or Lambrate?

Yes. In a gallery in Brera, in Lambrate or in any other district of Milan, Giulia Dal Bon paints in the room while visitors discover the exhibition. She sets her easel away from the walls, in a corner chosen with the gallery, and the canvas moves forward through the evening. For a gallery, the performance starts at 400 €, free quote within 48 hours.

Can Giulia come to a private party in a Milan apartment?

Yes. In a palazzo apartment as in a casa di ringhiera, Giulia Dal Bon needs a corner about two metres wide for her easel, and a little light if the party is in the evening. She paints in odourless acrylic, protects the floor around her, and paints the courtyard, the table or the guests. The performance starts at 400 €, free quote within 48 hours.

Can Giulia paint during Design Week, in a showroom?

Yes. During Design Week, Giulia Dal Bon paints in a showroom, a courtyard or a shop window in the Fuorisalone districts, for one evening or for the whole fair: the length is decided with you. She prepares the subject from your references, and the product or the logo can appear on the canvas. The canvas of the evening starts at 900 €, free quote within 48 hours.

Has Giulia already painted live in Milan?

Yes: at the Fabbrica del Vapore, for Play Green, alongside the illustrator Francesco Barcella, and as part of Piano City Milano, on 24 May 2025, at the Circolo Culturale Romeo Cerizza, with Orlando at the piano. Her mural of more than twenty metres dedicated to Gaber and Jannacci can also be seen in Milan, at the Circolo Cerizza.

Can the piano and painting show take place in Milan?

Yes. Orlando & Giulia present the piano and painting show: Orlando plays a neoclassical repertoire, in the line of Ludovico Einaudi or Hania Rani, and Giulia paints while he plays. At the last note, the painting is uncovered. The show is prepared with the venue and priced on request.

What happens to the canvas after the evening?

It is finished and signed at the end of the evening, and it comes back to you the same night. It can also stay in the place it portrays, if the gallery, the brand or the host wishes: a painting dated from the private view or the evening, which the guests recognise when they come back. For a very large format, Giulia Dal Bon finishes the details in the studio, and the delivery date is written in the quote.

In which languages can the evening be organised with Giulia?

In Italian, French, English and Spanish. Giulia Dal Bon speaks all four, which matters in Milan when guests come from several countries for Design Week or for a fair. The quote is free within 48 hours.

How does booking work?
