What Giulia can offer for your evening
Tell her what you are looking for, she suggests one option or several, and the evening is built with you.
During the evening
The canvas of the evening, and the words of your guests: Giulia paints the venue that hosts you live, and each guest comes and writes whatever they like on the canvas — a word, a name, a signature. The company keeps a painted guest book with the date of the evening on it. From 900 €.
Watercolour portraits of the guests: alone, as a couple or as a team, each guest leaves with their own the same evening, and everyone can have a turn. From 1 200 €.
The canvas painted by your teams: each team paints one part, Giulia links the pieces and holds the composition, and the whole ends up as a single image on your wall. It is the seminar format. From 900 €.
The logo, the product or the winner’s name, painted by hand: Giulia also studied graphic design at the Brera Academy. She draws the lettering by hand and builds the canvas in the colours of the house, and a winner’s name can be painted during the ceremony and handed over on stage. Included in the canvas of the evening, from 900 €.
The piano and painting show: Orlando plays, Giulia paints on stage, and the painting is revealed on the last note. She can also paint the canvas upside down and turn it round at the end, if you want the piece of theatre. Quoted on request.
Before and after
The poster for the evening, painted by hand: the invitation, the poster or the programme, painted by hand, then laid out and delivered print-ready. Giulia signed the poster for the 83rd Open d’Italia. From 700 €.
A mural in your offices: what your guests watched come to life one evening can stay on a wall, at reception, in a meeting room or in the canteen. Painted with a brush, in odourless acrylic: the place stays open while she works. From 150 € per sqm.
What a live painting brings to an evening in Amsterdam
Amsterdam hosts some fifty international congresses and seventy trade fairs a year, and closing evenings are an exercise everyone here knows. A painter at work gives the room something other than a screen to look at: guests take the time to come over, come back to see how far the canvas has got, take photographs.
Giulia paints the gables and the canals, the room that hosts you, the brand motif or the high point of the programme. The signed canvas stays with the company, with the date of the evening on it.
In practice, for a company in Amsterdam
Send the date, the venue and the number of guests: Giulia replies within 48 hours with a free quote, itemised line by line so it goes straight into a budget, and an invoice in the company name. Two complimentary sketches go out before the evening, so the management or the agency can approve the subject.
Everything is arranged in English, and she also speaks Italian, French and Spanish. She paints in odourless acrylic, protects the floor around her, and the room stays in use while she works.
Event venues in Amsterdam
Giulia travels to the city’s event venues: RAI Amsterdam, opened in 1961, one hundred and sixteen thousand two hundred square metres of exhibition space, twelve halls, seventy conference rooms, two auditoriums and a ballroom seating close to two thousand, with the Europahal holding twelve thousand nine hundred people; and the Beurs van Berlage, the former commodity exchange built between 1896 and 1903 by Hendrik Petrus Berlage, whose Beurszaal — almost one thousand six hundred square metres under a glass roof carried on a steel frame — is the largest hall in central Amsterdam.
She also travels to Amstelveen, Haarlem, Hoofddorp, Zaandam, Almere, Utrecht, Leiden, The Hague, Delft, Rotterdam, Naarden and Muiden.
Your questions, before booking
Can Giulia paint during a trade fair evening at the RAI?
Yes. She starts as the drinks are served, works on through dinner and reveals the canvas at the moment of the speech. On a stand or in a hall she needs a square of about two metres by two, a power socket and decent light. The canvas of the evening starts at 900 €, and watercolour portraits of the guests at 1 200 €.
Can the guests write on the canvas?
Yes. Giulia paints the large canvas in front of everyone — the city, the room or your brand motif — and each person comes and writes a word, a name, a signature on it. The company keeps a painted, dated guest book that stays on the wall. Giulia holds the composition, so the whole thing reads. From 900 €.
Can everything be handled in English?
Yes, and that is how it usually goes in the Netherlands. Giulia speaks English, Italian, French and Spanish: the brief, the exchanges with your agency and the words you want painted are settled in whichever language suits you. The invoice is made out in the company name, itemised line by line.
How much does live painting cost for a company evening?
From €900 for a live performance, and the length is decided with you: twenty minutes during a speech, an hour at the drinks reception, or the whole evening. Portraits of your guests, sketched during the evening, start at €1,200. A large format or a full day starts at €2,400. Giulia Dal Bon sends a free quote within 48 hours, itemised line by line so it slots into a budget, with an invoice made out to the company.
What exactly does the company receive?
The canvas, signed, handed over the same evening, and the invoice made out to the company, itemised line by line. If you wish, Giulia also paints the company name or logo into the composition.
What happens to the painting after the evening?
It stays with the company. Many hang it in reception or in a meeting room: it is the trace of the evening, and everyone who was there recognises it. It can also be given to a departing director, handed to a client, auctioned for a charity, or drawn among the guests. Giulia signs it if you wish.
Can the logo or the brand colours go into the painting?
Yes. Giulia also studied graphic design at the Brera Academy: she draws the lettering by hand and builds the canvas around the company’s colours. The logo can appear painted, or stay out and let the palette speak. It is decided beforehand, on the two complimentary sketches, with your management or your agency.
Can the team take part?
Yes, and it works well at a seminar: everyone adds a brushstroke, or each team paints a section that Giulia then ties together. She keeps hold of the composition so the result stands up. Tell her how many people and how much time you have, and she adapts.
What does Giulia need on site?
A square of about two metres by two, a power socket and some light. She arrives with her easel, her canvases and her paints, protects the floor around her and leaves with her own equipment. The acrylic she uses dries fast, so the canvas leaves the same evening.
Where has Giulia already painted live?
At the Fabbrica del Vapore in Milan, for Play Green, she painted live alongside the illustrator Francesco Barcella, on a reclaimed wooden panel supplied by the Di Nuovo craftsmen. And on 6 July 2017, in Camaiore, for the fourteenth Festival Gaber, she painted under the Arco di Via Vittorio Emanuele beside the guitarist Gianni Martini. The links are on the Press page.
