What Giulia can paint for a retirement

Example of a hand-painted landscape for a retirement: Giulia Dal Bon painted in watercolour the colourful houses of a seaside town.
In watercolour, Giulia painted an old town sloping down to the sea.

The first subject is the person. Giulia Dal Bon paints their portrait from a photo the team already has: a smile caught at the office, a moment from a team party, an old photo from their early years in the job. She can paint them alone, or surrounded by the colleagues who shared those working years, brought together from several photos on the same canvas.

The second subject is the place of the career. Giulia paints the building seen from the street, the workshop with its tools, the shop and its window, the van or the machine of a whole working life. She works from your photos, and a detail that matters to the person finds its place in the composition: a tree in the courtyard, a sign, a desk by the window.

The third subject is the place where retirement begins. The house they are moving to, their village, the harbour where a boat is waiting, the mountain they look at from the terrace: Giulia paints that landscape on paper or on canvas, from your photos or from what the person says about it.

A painting for every profession

For a teacher, Giulia Dal Bon paints the school, its front and its playground, or the classroom seen from the teacher’s desk. For a nurse or a doctor, she paints the hospital, the surgery with its brass plate, or the street where the practice welcomed patients for years.

For a firefighter, the fire station and its wide doors; for a teaching assistant, the playground of the infant school; for a craftsman, the workshop, the bench and the tools; for a shopkeeper, the shop seen from the pavement. Each painting starts from the photos you send, and the subject is chosen with Giulia on the two free sketches.

Giving together: the collection, the invoice, the date

When a whole team gives the painting, one person writes to Giulia Dal Bon, sends the photos and passes on the group’s view of the sketches. Colleagues chip in however they like, and the quote is made once, in the name of the person ordering or of the company.

The sketch comes quickly. Then allow about a week, as a rule, between the approved sketch and the painting going out, plus a few days in transit: the exact timing is written in the quote. For a leaving do, write to Giulia three weeks before and give the date in your first message.

Only the person ordering sees the sketches and the progress: the colleague who is retiring discovers the painting on the day of the party.

The painting they receive

Example of a landscape to give for a retirement: Giulia Dal Bon painted in watercolour a village of yellow and red façades by the sea.
Giulia painted a colourful village between the palms and the sea.

The painting arrives varnished, carefully packed and ready to hang, and Giulia Dal Bon signs it if you wish. She sends it to you, or straight to the home of the person who is retiring. A painting made by hand shows, and it stands out all the more today: the person hangs it at home, and the place of their career or of their new life stays on the wall.

If the team would rather let the person choose, the gift certificate is made for that: you give the painting, the person chooses the subject and the size, and the certificate stays valid for whenever they wish.

For the leaving party itself, Giulia also creates live paintings: she paints in front of the guests, and the signed painting is yours the same evening.

Your questions, before you order

What gift should you give a colleague who is retiring?

A painting made by hand for that person: their portrait from a photo, the place where they worked, or the place they are moving to. Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy, paints it from the team’s photos, on paper or on canvas, and the team gives it on the day of the leaving party. A painting made by hand shows, and the person keeps it on a wall at home. The painting is 90 € on A4 paper, and from 180 to 320 € on canvas.

What budget should colleagues plan for a retirement gift?

Giulia Dal Bon offers four sizes, and the price follows the size you choose, whatever the number of people painted. Colleagues chip in however they like, and one person gathers the money and places the order. When the company gives the gift, the quote and the invoice can be made out to the company. The painting is 90 € on A4 paper, 180 € on a 30×40 canvas, 240 € in 40×50 and 320 € in 50×70, shipping on top.

Which subject should you choose for a retirement painting?

Three subjects speak about the person: their portrait, alone or with colleagues; the place of their career, the school, the surgery, the workshop or the shop; the place of their new life, the house, the village, the coast or the mountains. Giulia Dal Bon paints from your photos, old ones included, and shows you two free sketches: you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. The painting is 90 € on A4 paper, and from 180 to 320 € on canvas.

Can you have the school, the surgery or the workshop where they worked painted?

Yes. Giulia Dal Bon paints the school and its playground for a teacher, the hospital or the surgery for a nurse or a doctor, the fire station for a firefighter, the workshop and its tools for a craftsman, the shop seen from the pavement for a shopkeeper. A photo of the front taken straight on is enough for her, and a detail that matters to the person finds its place in the composition. The painting is 90 € on A4 paper, and from 180 to 320 € on canvas.

How do colleagues organise a collection for a painted gift?

One person keeps in touch with Giulia Dal Bon: they send the photos, pass on the group’s view of the two free sketches and pay for the order. Colleagues chip in however they like, and the quote is made once. A 50 % deposit confirms the order once the sketch is approved, and the balance is paid at the end. The painting is 90 € on A4 paper, and from 180 to 320 € on canvas, shipping on top.

Can the invoice be made out to the company?

Yes. Giulia Dal Bon makes out the quote and the invoice to the person ordering or to the company, as you prefer. The quote is free and arrives within 48 hours. A 50 % deposit confirms the order once the sketch is approved, and the balance is paid at the end. Shipping is added at cost, from the country of destination.

Will the painting arrive in time for the leaving party?

Yes, when the date comes with your first message. The sketch comes quickly; then allow about a week, as a rule, between the approved sketch and the painting going out, plus a few days in transit, and the exact timing is written in Giulia Dal Bon’s quote. For a leaving party, write to her three weeks ahead and you will have room. If a date moves, Giulia lets you know well in advance.

Can a portrait be painted from a photo taken at work?

Yes. A photo taken at the office, in the workshop or at a team party, even an old one, is enough for Giulia Dal Bon. She paints the person alone, or with colleagues brought together from several photos on the same canvas, and shows you two free sketches before she paints. One face or a whole team: the size sets the price. The portrait is 90 € on A4 paper, and from 180 to 320 € on canvas.

Does the retiring colleague discover the painting on the day of the party?

Yes. Only the person ordering sees the sketches and the progress, and Giulia Dal Bon deals with that person alone. The painting arrives varnished, carefully packed and ready to hang, and Giulia signs it if you wish. Just give her the date of the party in your first message.
