How much does a seaside painting cost?

From 90 € on paper in A4, 180 € on canvas in 30×40 cm, 240 € in 40×50 cm, 320 € in 50×70 cm. The size sets the price, a single boat as much as a whole bay with its houses. Large formats and very detailed views are quoted separately, with a reply within 48 hours. The first two sketches are included: you tell her what you think, and she adjusts. Shipping is added at cost, sent from the destination country.

Who paints the picture?

Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in art galleries, paints with a brush, on canvas or on paper, from your photos, and ships the painting anywhere in Europe, carefully packed. Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have written about her work.

What exactly do you receive?

The painting itself, on canvas or on paper depending on the size you choose, varnished, signed if you wish, and carefully packed for shipping, sent from the destination country. Before that, you receive the first two sketches, free, and you follow the progress in photos. A 50% deposit once the sketch is approved, balance at the end.

Which sea photo should I send?

A photo where the horizon is straight and sharp, taken at the hour you prefer. Add two or three more: a wider one for the space, a tighter one for the colour of the water, one for a detail you love. Giulia composes the framing from the whole set and shows it to you on the sketch before painting.

Can a sunset be painted?

Yes, and it is a subject that suits acrylic well: the gradations are built in layers and keep their depth. Say the colour you remember, bold orange, pale pink, red on the water, and Giulia sets the light accordingly. You see the mood on the sketch and can have it evolve.

Can our boat be painted?

Yes. The sailing boat, the fishing boat, the tender: a profile photo and a three-quarter view are enough, with the name legible if you want it to appear. The boat can be alone on the water, at anchor off a coast, or pulled up on the beach. It is a gift that makes its mark for a retirement or a wedding anniversary.

Can we appear at the water’s edge?

Yes, from other photos. Two figures walking on the sand, the family in the waves, a child collecting pebbles: Giulia places them at the right scale and you approve their position on the sketch. The price follows the size of the canvas, one figure as much as a group.

Which size for a sea view?

The 50×70 cm is the natural size for the horizon: the bay stretches out and the painting holds a whole living-room wall. The 40×50 cm works very well above a bed. On paper, a framed A4 suits a tighter subject. Send a photo of the wall, Giulia advises on the size by looking at the space.

Do salt and damp harm the painting?

Acrylic and the final varnish protect the surface. Hang the painting away from direct sunlight, in a room that gets aired: it copes very well in a house by the sea. On paper, framing behind glass adds useful protection.

Can it be given as a gift?

Yes, it is a simple gift to prepare: all it takes is a photo of the place and the date. Giulia replies within 48 hours, proposes two sketches, paints, and sends you photos of the finished painting before shipping. The parcel goes to you or straight to the person, with a note from you. The gift certificate exists too, valid for as long as the person wishes.

How much time should I allow?

The sketch arrives quickly. Then allow about a week between the approved sketch and the shipping of the painting, plus a few days in transit: the exact lead time is written in the quote. For a fixed date, a birthday, a retirement, a signing at the notary, say so in your first message: Giulia organises the work so the painting arrives on time, and lets you know well in advance if the schedule moves.

Can the sea be painted on a wall?

Yes, and it is a subject that works beautifully as a mural: a horizon that opens up a dark room, a false window onto the bay. The price then follows the mural grid, from 150 € per sqm as a line drawing, 250 € for a fully painted landscape and 350 € for a trompe-l’oeil.
