How much does live wedding painting cost?

The wedding canvas painted live starts at 950 € in 40 × 60 cm, 1,200 € in 60 × 80 cm, 1,500 € in 70 × 100 cm and 1,800 € in 80 × 120 cm with the full day. Travel and arrangements are agreed together and appear in the quote, sent within 48 hours.

Who paints the gift painting?

Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. She exhibits her paintings in art galleries, paints by brush, on canvas or on paper, from your photos, and ships the painting anywhere in Europe, carefully packed. Corriere della Sera, Domus and Sky Arte have covered her work.

Can you gift live painting for another occasion?

Yes, and the options change with it. For a birthday, a concert or a festival, Giulia paints a live performance from 400 €, and a guest portrait station from 500 €. For a company evening, the canvas of the evening starts at 900 €. Those prices live on the live painting pages: the wedding canvas itself starts at 950 €.

How far ahead should you book?

The earlier the safer, because a wedding date is held a long way ahead and summer Saturdays go quickly. Write as soon as the date is set, even if the size is still open: Giulia holds the day, the details follow. She sends a quote within 48 hours and gives plenty of warning if her calendar shifts.

What if the date changes?

It moves, as long as Giulia is free on the new date. Weddings shift for a thousand reasons, and that is allowed for: you write, she checks her calendar, the booking follows. If the new date is already taken, the deposit is kept for another commission, a painting from a photo for instance.

Giving the surprise

How do you gift live painting to a couple?

You contact Giulia Dal Bon with the date, the reception venue and the size you have in mind. She replies within 48 hours with a quote. You book the date, you pay, and on the day she arrives with her easel and her colours. The couple has everything to discover: the gift is yours, the evening is theirs.

Do the couple have to know?

That is your call. The surprise holds up well: you tell the wedding planner, or the venue, so a corner is set aside near the dance floor or the top table. The couple sees the easel appear in the middle of the party and works it out as the evening goes on. Guests take the time to watch the canvas as it grows.

Who tells the venue?

You, or Giulia if you would rather she called them herself. Very little is needed: about two square metres, a socket nearby and some light. The easel, the canvas, the colours and the floor covering travel with her. A word to the caterer and the photographer is enough for everyone to know where she will be.

What happens during the evening?

Giulia paints standing up, in time with the music, while the party carries on. The scene builds in front of the guests: the room, the couple, the light of that moment. People take the time to look, they photograph the canvas as it grows and come back to see how far it has got. The painting becomes a meeting point of the evening.

When do the couple see the painting?

At the end of the evening, once the canvas is finished and signed. You choose the moment it is handed over, after dessert or shortly before the party ends. That same evening the couple takes the painting home, painted and finished on the spot. Only very large sizes call for a stop at the studio first.

What the couple keeps

What do the couple keep afterwards?

A canvas painted by hand during their wedding, signed, ready to hang. It shows their room, their guests and the light of that evening, with the brushwork visible. It is a dated object, particular to that night, that the photographs complete. The couple hangs it in the room where they entertain, and tells the story to everyone who sees it.

Is there another way to give the couple a painting?

Yes, and it is the other good route. Giulia paints the couple from a photo, before or after the wedding, on canvas or on paper, from 90 €. The painting arrives packed at your address or straight at theirs. If the date is coming up fast, the gift certificate can be handed over the same day and lets them choose.
