What does the price include?

Who paints it?
Giulia Dal Bon, a painter trained at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where she also studied graphic design. She exhibits her paintings in galleries, paints murals in seventeen countries, and lays out in Photoshop and Illustrator, which she knows well enough to have taught privately.

What exactly is a hand-painted invitation?
A watercolour or a painting made for your event, then laid out as a proper invitation. Giulia Dal Bon paints the subject — a place, a bouquet, a house, two figures — and draws the lettering by hand, names and date included. You receive a high-resolution file, at the exact size of your format, ready for the printer.
For which occasions?
A wedding, a birth, a christening, a birthday, a housewarming, and a remembrance too: for a farewell, a painted card says things differently from a printed one. The same drawing can carry the menu, the seating plan and the place cards, in the same hand.
What can be painted on it?
The estate or the church where you are marrying, the family house, the landscape of the place, an olive or mimosa branch, the flowers of your bouquet, an animal, two figures seen from behind. Giulia draws from your photos and offers two sketches before painting.
Is the lettering drawn as well?
Yes: the names, the date, the address. Giulia studied graphic design at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, and draws the lettering letter by letter, with a pen or a brush. That is what gives the card a handwriting of its own, which no ready-made typeface can give.

How far ahead should you get in touch?
Write to Giulia as soon as the date and the place are set: she replies within 48h with a free quote, then two sketches. Once the sketch is approved she paints the original and hands you the file; printing then depends on your own printer. For a wedding, a few weeks before you send them out leaves time to choose the paper.
Can it be printed anywhere?
Yes. Giulia delivers a high-resolution file at the exact size of your format, with bleed: you take it to whichever printer you like, online or nearby. She also prepares the pieces you need, menu or place cards, from the same drawing.
And the painted original?
It stays with you. It is a small work on paper, signed if you wish, which frames well and keeps long after the day. Many people hang it at home, next to the photographs.
Can it start from a found or generated image?
Yes, as a starting point. Giulia takes it as an intention, redraws the subject by hand and offers two sketches: the result is an original painting, made for your invitation and for no one else.
